Measures Requested to Support the Industry During This Period of Severe Challenges

The first weeks of 2025 have confirmed the trend already evident in the latter part of last year, marked by a sharp increase in energy commodity prices.

As highlighted by Assofond President Fabio Zanardi in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore yesterday, "We are facing an unprecedented situation, with skyrocketing prices while market demand is plummeting. In 2022, at the height of the energy crisis, we had strong demand and significant support from tax credits. These two factors together allowed us to weather the most challenging periods. Today, the situation is entirely different, and we are no longer able to bridge the competitiveness gap separating us from our main European and non-European competitors, who pay far less for energy than we do."

Assofond, along with other Confindustria associations representing energy-intensive sectors, has signed an appeal to the Government, Parliament, and Regional Authorities, urging them to intervene with measures to support the industry during this period of severe difficulty.
